Every year at the Eastside Culture Crawl I get inspired. I think about my desire to be an artist – then realize it might be best if I simply support the artists and their creativity by buying and talking about the work and the people behind it.
This year I met Michelle Sirois-Silver who does hand hooked rugs. I am dazzled by her work. The wall art she created is out of this world and the “pictures” she created from fabric are so rich and beautiful. I want to learn how to do it… and she said she would help! She has her finger on the pulse of the rug hooking groups and there are lots of place to learn – and she says it is a relaxing, easy (ish) and has great history.
Go check out Michelle at The Mergatroid Building at 975 Vernon Street – get inspired, learn more and maybe we can take a class or two together.
