Salt Spring Island – more than the market…

I have a confession, I love Salt Spring Island. My good friend, Deirdre, lives there, Barb’s Buns is one of the best place to eat on the Islands, the bookstores rock, the beaches are amazing, the kid’s toy store is a place the kids want to live at,  Salt Spring Air does flying tours and I can simply relax when I am there.  One of the things I have always enjoyed is the Saturday market – oh my, what a spot to be at! Food, clothes, creations, soaps,

music, fun, packed with people… it is the place to be. After the excitement of the market, we like to check out the galleries. There are loads of them and they feature something differest in each one: native art, stone carvings, wood art, paintings, photography – and many are from the local talent of Salt Spring Island.

I would like to encourage everyone to make it to Salt Spring Island at least once this summer – make a day trip, camp or splurge and go to Hastings House – really you will have fun. We are heading over to enjoy the Masterpiece Weekend – lots of art and we get to meet the artists (and hopefully meet Robert Bateman). Below is the press release about the special weekend.
