Pomp, circumstance and, yes, tea! Celebrating the Royal Wedding in style.

The Royal Wedding is just around the corner! I got my hat ready. Do you have yours? If not, don’t worry, The Grand Hotel in Nanaimo has some tiara’s on hand so you can fit in.

I would love to wear this hat by Philip Treacy… monarchs for the monarchy.

The Royal Wedding is on Friday, April 29th and you can count on a being treated like a Prince or Princess at the celebratory Afternoon Tea.  Traditional Afternoon Tea will be served at 1:00 pm and the price is $22.95 for adults and $16.95 for kids. Reservations highly, highly recommended. Please call 250-758-3000 to reserve your table. The in house tea masters have brought in the very special Buckingham Palace tea blend just for the grand occasion. Tea, traditional scones, fresh Devonshire cream, pastries, sandwiches and a beautiful wedding atmosphere will help celebrate this special day.

The Grand Hotel will have two big screens to watch the replay of the ceremony. To help guide us through the vows is Nanaimo’s own Barbara Densmore, a Wedding Celebrant. She knows lots of great things about weddings, vows and the magic of any wedding, royal or not.  There are prizes for best hats and/or costumes, there will have a vintage jeweler on site to help you find that special wedding bauble, you can also purchase a commemorative plate to mark the occasion. Lots of fun to be had.

For those not able to come to the Royal Wedding Afternoon Tea, do not fret! You can make your own party. Drop by the Grand Hotel and purchase a bag of Buckingham Palace tea ($11.95) and brew your own cuppa and enjoy the wedding day at home or in the office.
